18-year-old and dog shot on Syracuse’s North Side

Syracuse, N.Y. — An 18-year-old was shot in the back on Syracuse’s North Side Wednesday evening, police said.
Police responded to the shooting at 408 E. Division St. around 4:38 p.m. When they arrived, they found an 18-year-old male with a gunshot wound to his lower back, police said.
He was taken to Upstate University Hospital and is expected to survive, they said.
A one-year-old dog was also shot. Police could be seen standing at the corner of East Division Street and North Townsend surrounding the dog and petting it.
The dog was taken to the Veterinary Medical Center in DeWitt.
